WELCOME TO SALTY STARGAZER!
Well as this page is undergoing a bit of a transformation or maybe to be honest I should say an identity crisis since I know longer live in the city (Huntington Beach) I first created it for, you might as well still get to know me, and our dog Jedi. Who of course has his own page. Plus my “Salty Thoughts” may just end up becoming what I do with this page.
WHO AM I?
My name is Serina, I currently live outside of Las Vegas, Nevada in Henderson. We moved here in March of 2021 so we’re still getting settled I think. (More to come on that major life change). We previously lived in beautiful Huntington Beach, CA and worked primarily from home with my husband, Joe. We have one fur child, Jedi – a Standard Parti Poodle. ย I originally tarted Salty Stargazer as a fun way to document our adventures through HB while showcasing some of the best eats (and treats) Surf City has to offer. While that is definitely changing…my goal to maintain a balance between my love of food and fitness remains the same. Most of my travels involve exploring other beaches around the U.S. and beyond, that is when I’m not back in my native home of Arizona.
ABOUT ME
I’m originally from Phoenix, Arizona (who the SoCal locals loving refer to as “zonies”) where I grew up and graduated from the University of Arizona – Go Wildcats! After college, I ended up in the amazing city of Chicago for grad school determined to work for the F.B.I (thankfully God had other plans for my life). I graduated with a Masters Degree in Forensic Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. After graduation, I quickly found myself back in Phoenix working as an Adult Probation Officer in Maricopa County. (It was as interesting as you can imagine).
TAKE ME TO THE BEACH
I met my husband playing competitive beach volleyball at the Huntington Beach Pier (Southside – as this is very important for locals) on a beautiful, sunny Sunday afternoon in 2011. A true HB love story as we say, and this Zonie couldn’t move to the beach fast enough! We married in 2014 in Scottsdale, AZ. We are not as active in the competitive beach scene as we’d but it will always be a passion of ours.
I inititally decided to start blogging because I enjoy writing, taking pictures and feel there is much to share about the beautiful, quiet surf town aka “Surf City, USA” ย and the places we go. Although, I must admit, I have not yet mastered the art of taking pictures of food (because I usually eat it and forget) or even where we go all time. It may not be so much of an art as it is my goal to be present with people and our surroundings. So this will continue to be a journey for me our life has transition out of Surf City to Sin City ๐คจ Thanks in advance for being a part of it! I will update soon!
I also love adventure and sleeping in (until 8:00am if we’re being honest). I have a passion for fitness, but my faith and family always come first. ย I love dogs, the salty beach air and Stargazer Lily’sย always make me smile.
