Taste of Huntington Beach 2017

The Huntington Beach Sports Complex was the place to be for anyone and everyone who considers themselves a “foodie” on April 30th, 2017.  For that was the day of the annual Taste of Huntington Beach!  Not only was it a great day to eat, drink and be merry but the proceeds benefited the Children’s Department of the Huntington Beach Library.  “Since 2002, the friends of the Children’s Library and the HB Restaurant Association have helped the Taste raise over $500,000 for the HB Children’s Library!” (source: TasteHB.com) There were almost 50 restaurants represented, plus 30 different wineries and breweries.  We definitely had our “fill” of fun and food, but only a few restaurants really stood out in my book that particular day…

Here are my favorites for that day (in order):

Hidden Jewels of the Desert

Our three-year anniversary snuck up on us this year. Time really does go by too fast, but I blame the month of March in general.  Second to December, March has to be the best and busiest month for weddings, all kinds of celebratory showers, parties and not to mention Spring Break. We found ourselves back in my home state of Arizona for a family member’s wedding the same weekend we got married. Fortunately for us, we spent the weekend at what I used to refer to as my “second home” (it is probably my 3rd home now), the Arizona Biltmore Resort in Phoenix. This is where we also spent our wedding night and couple days before we left on our honeymoon.  We had a fabulous time at the Biltmore, as always celebrating our love and visiting another historic, hidden gem, Durant’s Steakhouse.

Happy Tails of Calgary!

I couldn’t be more excited to write my first blog post about a foundation (and trip) that has grown near and dear to my heart in the last couple years. Although this post doesn’t necessarily fit my beach theme, the journey did start in Huntington Beach. Last week, my husband and I assisted our dear friend and cofounder of Waggin’ Trails Rescue Foundation on a trip to Calgary, Canada with the sole purpose of saving dog lives. (Mission accomplished)! Now, don’t get me wrong, we did have a fair share of fun and adventure in the arctic temps during the trip.
