I love a good brunch on Sunday (or Saturday) but Sunday always seems to be the most popular day for such indulgences. There are a few good spots in Huntington Beach that serve great breakfast food, but when it comes to “brunch” my qualifications are simple: buffet style and bottomless mimosas. Bonus if they allow pets.

Mother’s Day was a little extra special this year since my mom is staying in Huntington Beach for a while. After failing to make reservations at several of my favorite restaurants because everything was booked, I decided to give her a real (and diverse) taste of Huntington Beach (not to be confused with the actual Taste of Huntington Beach I last wrote about). At first, I was nervous about my decision to just “wing it,” but the day couldn’t have worked out better even with our 7 month old puppy in tow! Sometimes not having any plans is the best plan of all.
Quick disclaimer: I did not take a lot of photos as being present with mom was more important than pictures. Although, we had some great photos taken of my mom, fur brother and I at Top Dog Barkery by the talented L’arte Photography in support of the OC Animal Care.

For that was the day of the annual Taste of Huntington Beach! Not only was it a great day to eat, drink and be merry but the proceeds benefited the Children’s Department of the Huntington Beach Library. “Since 2002, the friends of the Children’s Library and the HB Restaurant Association have helped the Taste raise over $500,000 for the HB Children’s Library!” (source: TasteHB.com) There were almost 50 restaurants represented, plus 30 different wineries and breweries. We definitely had our “fill” of fun and food, but only a few restaurants really stood out in my book that particular day…
Here are my favorites for that day (in order):
